NOURNEWS – Former member of Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation Maxim Shevchenko said that the Israeli regime’s crimes against Gaza Strip and Palestinians could only be stopped by global community pressure.
A renowned expert on the Middle East, Shevchenko said in an interview on Monday that the Israeli regime would never voluntarily end its inhumane measures against Palestinians unless there is global pressure.
Shevchenko who founded the Center for Strategic Studies of Religion and Politics of the Modern World underscored Palestinians' right to have a sovereign government in their ancestral land and live in peace, adding that unconditional support from the Israeli regime by the West, the US in particular, would embolden the regime to commit even more crimes against Palestine.
Describing Israel's strike on a building in Gaza that housed several media offices as a measure to prevent media coverage, the Russian expert criticized the West for their silence against this crime, while they would condemn the same incident if it was done by an opponent country.
The Israeli regime has carried out hundreds of strikes against the civilian targets in Gaza, pounding al-Jalla tower which housed offices of Associated Press, al-Jazeera, AFP, and other media.
Such support from the Israeli regime delivers only one massage, according to Shevchenko, that is Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials could keep up with occupation without being condemned by the West
He underlined that the international community must help Palestinians to retain their right to a sovereign state and the United Nations must insist on implementing its resolutions on the two-state solution.
