NOURNEWS - Iraqi political and security analyst Al-Hashimi was targeted by unknown individuals after a televised interview, according to reports, some sources also said that the ISIS terrorist group claimed responsibility for the assassination of Iraqi analyst Hisham al-Hashimi.
Arab Sputnik reported that Hisham al-Hashimi was a prominent security expert and researcher on the affairs of armed groups who was killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen in eastern Baghdad.
The Hashd Al-Shabi delegation expressed its condolences on the assassination of Hisham al-Hashimi and called for the arrest of the terrorist groups that assassinated him.
They also said in a statement that al-Hashimi was one of the most prominent writers and experts on the affairs of the ISIS terrorist group and played a major role in exposing their secrets and games.
Al-Hashimi was a historian and researcher in the field of security-strategy and extremist groups and an expert on the case of the ISIS terrorist group. He also worked in the field of manuscripts of jurisprudence and hadith and completed his education in management and economics with a bachelor's degree.
He was imprisoned during Saddam's regime; but he was released in 2002, and after 2003, he worked as a journalist for a time, producing numerous reports and documentaries for foreign newspapers and networks.
In a statement, the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad also condemned the criminal act of assassinating "Hisham Al-Hashimi".
The statement from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Iraq said: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the assassination of Mr. Hisham al-Hashimi, a researcher and strategic expert. The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns this criminal act, which has shown its ugly face by killing elites.”
