The Iranian president made the remarks on Sunday morning before departing for China, where he will attend the two-day 25th Heads of State Council meeting of the SCO, set to begin in Tianjin later in the day.
Pezeshkian emphasized that the summit is part of broader efforts to reinforce multilateralism and counter the unilateralism and totalitarian policies pursued by the United Sates and certain European countries in the world.
He added that the meeting would provide a platform to expand relations with other nations, as leaders from SCO member and observer states would hold discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation.
“These talks offer a very important opportunity to bring our views closer together in scientific, cultural, political, and security fields, and to support one another,” President Pezeshkian noted.
The president also expressed hope that the dialogue would contribute to promoting peace and security at both regional and global levels. He said he is scheduled to meet with the Chinese president as well as other participating leaders on the sidelines of the summit.
