Iran condemns assassination of Yemeni officials, urges intl. community to confront ‘rogue’ Israeli regime

The Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s recent assassination of at least nine senior Yemeni officials, urging the global community to confront Tel Aviv’s insistence on keeping up its deadly lawless behavior.

In a statement on Saturday, the ministry denounced the “terrorist” atrocities “in the harshest possible terms,” emphasizing the urgent need for serious action by the international community to curb the regime’s “roguishness.”

It described the heinous acts of deadly aggression as not only instances of war crime and a crime against humanity, but also “malicious acts of revenge” aimed at deterring the Yemeni nation’s resolve to support the oppressed Palestinian people.

The statement came after Israeli airstrikes on the Yemeni capital claimed the lives of Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahawi of the National Government of Change and Construction, and eight officials serving across various other portfolios.

The assaults came in the context of the regime’s recurrent raids against the country.

The attacks began after Yemen’s Armed Forces started staging near-daily operations against sensitive Israeli targets in response to a genocidal war that Tel Aviv had launched on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.

Such Israeli acts of terrorism, the ministry added, would fail to dissuade the Yemeni people from keeping up their pro-Palestinian struggle.

“Rather, they will only fuel growing outrage and hatred among public opinion, especially within the Muslim world, towards the Zionist regime and its backers, particularly the United States,” the statement went on to say.

It, meanwhile, reminded the international community, including global organizations, of their duty to stop the regime’s warmongering and hold its “criminal ringleaders” accountable.
