Behind the scenes of Netanyahu’s latest speech: Peace in blood

Netanyahu’s latest speech on the evening of April 19, 2025 (30 Farvardin 1404), once again unveiled a strategy that presents war as a tool for “security”—but in reality, it is an effort to cover up the killing of civilians, the destruction of Gaza, and Israel’s evasion of international responsibility.

Nournews: Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, appeared before the cameras in Tel Aviv during the early hours of Saturday evening, just hours after the second round of talks between representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States had concluded. His remarks were a clumsy attempt to justify the atrocities his government has committed in Gaza. By distorting facts and reversing the truth, he seeks to legitimize an inhumane war that is not about defending people, but about destroying the lives of millions of Palestinians.

Netanyahu portrays the war on Gaza as a source of “restored security,” but the reality is nothing short of widespread devastation, targeted killings of civilians, and the destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure. In his rhetoric, destroying hospitals and schools is a “pressure tactic,” whereas such actions are clear examples of war crimes under international law. The indiscriminate and reckless attacks on civilian areas, in violation of the Geneva Conventions, reveal that Israel’s war is not against Hamas, but against the Palestinian people.

While Netanyahu tries to humanize himself by referencing the hostages and speaking with their families, the truth is that the taking and deaths of dozens of hostages are a direct result of his government's refusal to agree to a ceasefire and engage in meaningful negotiations. He has turned the hostages into tools for continuing the war, not rescuing them. This is a blatant emotional exploitation of the victims’ suffering, primarily for domestic political pressure.

Netanyahu’s effort to link Hamas, Hezbollah, and other regional groups to Iran is nothing but a worn-out tactic to justify regional instability. This approach not only denies on-the-ground realities, but also attempts to dodge Israel’s moral and legal responsibilities for the widespread civilian killings. Blaming Iran, as always, is a smokescreen to cover up the political, military, and ethical failures of the Tel Aviv regime.

Netanyahu complains about Israel’s “lost legitimacy,” yet refuses to acknowledge that this loss is the result of crimes like bombing refugee camps, cutting off water and electricity, blocking humanitarian aid, and destroying hospitals. In truth, the international community no longer accepts his distorted narrative, and global public opinion is now more aware than ever of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Netanyahu is not seeking security or the rescue of hostages. He is trying to save himself and sustain a colonial project that—backed by Western military, media, and diplomatic support—aims to silence the voice of resistance. But the resistance of the Palestinian people is both legitimate and natural, and history has shown that in the end, justice will triumph over oppression.
