Introduction to Tourist Attractions of Iranian Cities

Aghajari is one of the counties in Khuzestan Province, with the city of Aghajari serving as its administrative center. The name of the county is derived from the Aghajeri tribe, who historically inhabited the region. In the past, Aghajari was considered part of the province of Kohgiluyeh, but was later annexed to Khuzestan.

One of the county’s most notable features is the Aghajari oil field, located within its boundaries, which stands as one of the country’s major oil resources. Despite its natural wealth and strategic geographic location, Aghajari is considered one of the less developed regions in Iran, facing challenges such as inadequate service, healthcare, and educational infrastructure.

Aghajari also boasts numerous tourist attractions, among the most prominent of which are:

  • Sorkh Mountain (Kuh-e Sorkh)
  • The Oil Field
  • Burnt Mountain (Kuh-e Sukhteh)
  • The Maroon River
  • The Zagros Mountain Range

Aghajari is a small but significant city in southern Khuzestan Province, known for its historical background, vast oil field, and hardworking people. Although rich in resources, it remains among the country’s less developed areas. Nevertheless, it retains a distinct identity and a deeply rooted culture.
