Gharibabadi made the remarks at a meeting of the parliament's National Security Commission, according to the spokesman of the commission, Ebrahim Rezaei.
"The Deputy Foreign Minister said that the lifting of sanctions should be in a way that leads to economic benefit for the Iranian nation and not be merely a symbolic gesture," the lawmaker further quoted Gharibabadi as saying in the session
"Iran also emphasizes its right to enrich uranium, and this issue is considered one of the red lines of negotiations of the Islamic Republic of Iran," Rezaei also cited the negotiator as saying.
The initial round of the indirect Iran-US talks mediated by Oman was held in Muscat, the capital of Oman. Yesterday's talks in Rome, Italy were the second round of those indirect talks.
