This city was formerly known as "Koochan," but after the burial of Seyyed Jalal al-Din Ashraf, the son of Imam Musa al-Kadhim (Peace Be Upon Him), it was renamed Astaneh Ashrafiyeh and became one of the region’s pilgrimage centers. Astaneh Ashrafiyeh, with its lush nature and mild climate, is situated next to the Sefidrud River and has many tourist attractions. The city is conveniently located 35 kilometers from Rasht and 7 kilometers from Lahijan, and to the north, it reaches Kiashahr Port and the Caspian Sea.
