Azadshahr is a city in Golestan Province, northern Iran. Formerly known as Shahpasand, its name was changed to the current one in 1981. Due to its geographic location on the slopes of the eastern Alborz Mountains and its proximity to the Hyrcanian forests, the city enjoys lush natural landscapes and a mild climate.

Azadshahr is often referred to as a "Little Iran" within Golestan Province because of its rich ethnic and cultural diversity. People from various parts of the country have made it their home.
