Iranian intelligence forces dismantle Takfiri terrorist network, seize cache of weapons in Kordestan

Iranian intelligence forces have dismantled a team of terrorists and seized a large cache of weapons and explosives in the country’s western province of Kordestan.

According to a report published by Iran’s Tasnim news agency, members of the terror outfit affiliated with the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group were identified and arrested before they could carry out any act of sabotage in the early days of the year in Kordestan thanks to the vigilance and alertness of provincial security intelligence forces.

The report said that the foreign-sponsored terrorists intended to carry out their operations during Nowruz celebrations marking the beginning of the Persian New Year in the western Iranian province.

The main goal of the extra-regional intelligence services and the terrorist groups under their command in the region is to destabilize the country and disrupt the unity between the religions and ethnicities of Iran, it added.

According to the report, a cache of weapons, munitions and communication equipment was also confiscated in this operation.

Over the past few years, Iran’s security forces have dismantled many foreign-backed terror outfits along the western and eastern borders.

Back in October 2021, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said its forces had wiped out a terrorist outfit in the country’s northwestern city of Sardasht, which is close to the Iran-Iraq border.

Two terrorist outfits were disbanded a month earlier in separate operations conducted by the Intelligence Ministry and police forces in Iran’s northwestern areas, during which two terrorists were killed, two others injured, and dozens arrested by the Iranian forces.

In July of the same year the country’s security forces disbanded a Takfiri terrorist group that sought to carry out simultaneous terrorist attacks in several provinces in cooperation with intelligence services of two European and regional countries.
