Iran says will not obstruct IAEA monitoring activities

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) stated that Iran's cooperation with the IAEA, based on the joint statement of February/March 2023, continues within the framework of a modality to resolve remaining ambiguities, and there are no obstacles to this cooperation.

Eslami, on the sidelines of the unveiling of the full-frequency high-power magnetron band S lamp, in response to reports suggesting that Iran has accepted increased inspections of its nuclear activities by the IAEA, said, "When we conduct nuclear activities in the field of natural uranium, the level of inspection and verification also changes with the scale and capacity."

He added, "We act according to the framework and regulations of the agency, and it is natural that when three units of activity are increased to five units, the level of inspection also increases proportionally, and this is not a problem. Unfortunately, some events, especially the Zionist-related events, are trying to create fear and panic against Iran's nuclear program."

When asked if a new modality has been agreed upon and scheduled to resolve the issues and ambiguities between the two parties after the latest resolution in the Board of Governors, Eslami stated, "In February/March 2023, in Tehran, we had a joint statement, and it was clearly stated that the relationship between Iran and the agency is within the framework of the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) and that we are committed to answering questions regarding four locations, which have now been reduced to two. We have agreed to address these issues, and these topics have been fabricated by the Zionist regime."

He emphasized, "We also agreed that our deputies would conduct the modality, and this process is ongoing and being carried out within the framework of this modality. To date, the agency has always had access for its inspections within the framework of the NPT, and we have not and will not create any obstacles for them."

Regarding the research status in the AEOI, Eslami, referring to the organization's open policies for civilian, student, and specialist sectors, said, "We strive to present and showcase our achievements through various languages and methods, and these achievements are moving towards commercialization."

He also spoke about the linear accelerators, stating, "These accelerators are used for medical, industrial, and other purposes, and they were previously imported from abroad. The initial components were imported from outside, but today, within the framework of knowledge-based industries, these components are manufactured and produced domestically. Furthermore, these products are produced in collaboration with medical and agricultural research centers."
