Nournews: In a meeting with Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the IAEA, in Tehran, President Pezeshkian stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s pursuit of nuclear technology is strictly within the frameworks and legal permissions of the IAEA.
“Just as in the past, we have repeatedly proven our good intentions and declared our readiness for collaboration and cooperation with this international entity to address ambiguities and alleged doubts regarding our country’s peaceful nuclear activity. The world has come to believe that Iran seeks peace and security in the world.”
President Pezeshkian also referred to the United States and European countries’ breaches of their commitments to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and noted that, according to several IAEA reports, Iran has fulfilled all its commitments under the deal. However, it was the U.S. that unilaterally withdrew from the agreement. Continuing along this path is impossible.
The President also commented on the critical situation in the region and the tragic events in Gaza and Lebanon caused by the aggressive Zionist regime, stating, “I entered the election campaign with the motto of creating unity and empathy domestically, while emphasizing peace, friendship, and the development of global ties, and I was elected by the people. However, on my first day in office, the Zionist regime assassinated Ismail Haniyeh in a criminal act, distorting our vision and intensifying bloodshed in the region, making the situation even more critical.”
Emphasizing the Zionist regime’s violation of all international laws and regulations, including the killing of women and children, attacks on healthcare centers, hospitals, and residential areas, President Pezeshkian said, “However, unfortunately, instead of being punished, it is being supported and armed by countries that claim to advocate for human rights.”
He added, “Today, public opinion expects that the countries claiming to support human rights, as well as international organizations and entities, play an active role in stopping these criminals instead of remaining silent and passive.”
The President said, “We believe that war benefits neither us, the region, nor the world, and no wise person seeks warmongering or the expansion of conflict. However, we will have a firm and decisive response to any action taken against our country’s security.”
Rafael Grossi, for his part, expressed appreciation for the peaceful and unifying approach of Iran’s president and, while commending the strong cooperation of Iranian nuclear officials in Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization and Foreign Ministry with the IAEA, said, “We deeply believe that your tenure will mark a new chapter of good and positive relations between Iran and the IAEA.”
Grossi reiterated, “Strong cooperation and interaction between Iran and the agency will neutralize any malicious acts against Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities for sure.”
