Plasma technology in industrial wastewater treatment

NOURNEWS – The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) visited the Kaveh Industrial City to review the progress of the industrial project for treating industrial wastewater using plasma technology.

Mohammad Eslami, accompanied by a group of nuclear industry managers and officials from the city of Sava, visited the project and was briefed on its latest developments.

Eslami said that one of the major problems facing large cities is industrial wastewater and its negative consequences.

He added that the current methods used to treat this wastewater have not been effective, and it is not possible to recycle the treated water for use in the environment.

Eslami stated that, following the Leader's emphasis on developing nuclear technology for the benefit of the people, nuclear industry experts have been working on plasma technology in all areas for the past two years.

He added that in the field of environmental protection and waste management, a pilot project has proven the effectiveness of plasma technology in treating 5 cubic meters of wastewater per day.

He said that this technology can treat industrial wastewater to a high quality, similar to distilled water, and recycle it.

He expressed hope that the responsible authorities will expedite the use of this domestic technology in industrial applications.

It is worth noting that the advantages of using plasma technology in wastewater treatment include effective removal and treatment of complex pollutants, environmental friendliness, high flexibility in dealing with various types of wastewater, high speed, and reduced energy consumption during the treatment process, as well as reduced unpleasant odors. Plasma technology has been developed by nuclear industry experts in recent years and is also used to eliminate agricultural pests and improve diabetic wounds.
