Nournews: Leading a delegation, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, who arrived on Saturday in New York, addressed the press, saying, “This year’s General Assembly meeting is being held while West Asia is experiencing turmoil. The region is facing a daily increase in tensions and the terrorist and criminal acts of Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon, which has led to a very dangerous situation in the region, with Israel monitoring the likelihood of the expansion of the war’s scope.”
“In these conditions, it is natural that the most important issue in our meetings on the sidelines of the event—including the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, BRICS, ECO, and others—will be to discuss how to counter the increasing tensions and criminal acts of the Zionist regime.”
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s most senior diplomat reiterated that “The Zionist regime is trying to push the region into a very dangerous situation, which poses a significant threat to the entire international community, as tensions could spread to other regions.”
Araghchi stated that he, along with Iran’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian, will meet with the heads of state and foreign ministers of regional, European, East Asian, and African countries. He noted that they will discuss various issues, including regional turmoil, the Ukraine crisis, and nuclear negotiations.
Araghchi emphasized that the recent crimes of the Zionist regime would naturally be the primary topic of meetings on the sidelines of the UN event. He added: “In my opinion, the Zionist regime has not achieved any of its preplanned goals, instead trapping itself in a swamp after a year of cruel killings in Gaza, which has turned the regime into a very dangerous beast in the region, ready to commit any crime to save itself from the current situation and cause war and chaos in the region.”
Araghchi added that “The crimes committed by Israel in recent days, including in Lebanon and the assassination of Ebrahim Aghil, one of Hezbollah’s commanders, are examples of Israel struggling to save itself from a dangerous dead end and attempting to drag the entire region into the swamp with it.”
The Foreign Minister noted that Iran has always approached these issues with awareness: “We are carefully monitoring the situation and selecting our policies with great care.”
Regarding Lebanon, Araghchi said, “It is natural that Lebanon will decide its own matters and respond appropriately. The assassination of Martyr Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran will not go unanswered.”
Araghchi also stated that Iran’s policy has always been to counter U.S. and Western unilateralism, which seeks to pursue their excessive demands and continue colonialism in a new form. “We will continue this policy,” he added.
The Foreign Minister of the 14th government added: "We, along with other like-minded countries, are pursuing multilateralism and addressing international issues through multilateral mechanisms."
He continued: "At the meetings held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly this year, especially the Summit for the Future, which is a new initiative this year, we will participate and strongly express the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran on international issues, multilateralism, and other topics related to environmental development and more."
The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized: "We have never missed the opportunity to use these platforms in international organizations to present the strong, reasonable, and logical positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
