The film, which made its global debut at the festival, won the award for Best Short Film and a special prize from the jury in the MicroCosmo section, Mehr News Agency reported.
The Lessinia Film Festival, held from August 23 to September 1, is the only Italian film competition dedicated exclusively to films about mountain life, history, and traditions.
‘Khalil’ tells the story of a 13-year-old boy struggling to come to terms with his father's death and fearing he may not receive God's forgiveness. The film follows Khalil's journey as he seeks reassurance from those around him and ultimately decides to write a heartfelt letter to God.
The film features a cast of Iranian actors, including Taha Cheraghi, Omid Cheraghi, and Musa Hedayati. The international distribution of the film is handled by Daricheh Cinema and Panah Film Institute.
This year's Lessinia Film Festival saw 97 films from 48 countries competing in various categories. The festival was established in 1995 and has since become a prominent platform for showcasing films about mountain cultures.
