Nournews: The third-place and final matches of the 18th Under-19 World Beach Volleyball Championship took place in Shangluo, China. The Iranian under-19 beach volleyball team, consisting of 17-year-old Habib Akbarzadeh and 18-year-old Amir Ali Ghalenoee, faced Mexico and won 2-1 with scores of 21-15, 19-21, and 15-6.
In the preliminary round, Iran's under-19 volleyball team defeated the USA, Australia, and Thailand, finishing as the top team in their group and advancing directly to the round of 16. The Iranian team then beat Chile in the quarterfinals and defeated Poland in the semifinals. However, in the semifinals, they lost to Latvia, but secured the bronze medal by winning against Mexico.
This is the first time the Iranian beach volleyball team has won a medal in a world championship, marking a historic achievement with the bronze medal. The coaching staff included head coach Abdolraouf Bastgani, coach and analyst Morteza Ahmadi Pourbandari, and team manager Seyyed Pouria Naeimi.
