Nournews: President Pezeshkian made these remarks at the inauguration ceremony of the newly-appointed Minister of Science. He stated, "A student cannot be a bad person. A student is the future of our country and must be able to ask questions."
Pezeshkian noted that if we understand that gaining awareness and knowledge is the philosophy of creation and apply them to serve people, we will appreciate thinkers and scientists more, and we will face fewer problems.
In addition, he referred to the shortcomings and malfunctions of Iran’s educational system. He pointed out that while economics answers four questions—"What to produce? How much to produce? What quality to produce? And where to distribute?"—we have not yet found proper answers to these questions, despite having so many universities.
He asked, "How can so many universities help society? Our youth study in these universities, but after they graduate, we tell them there are no jobs. We must train people who can serve society. How did we train our brightest minds so that they now want to leave the country to work elsewhere?"
He emphasized that our managers must be selected based on justice and merit, not on their party affiliation, attitudes, or group. He added that they should not be chosen based on their gender.
"There are three principles in management that must be accepted: Who is responsible? How should they act? How should they be held accountable?"
Pezeshkian said that, first and foremost, the right person must be selected, and then they should be assigned tasks and duties. If they do not perform their jobs correctly, we have the right to ask, "Why did you make a mistake?"
He further stated that hiring someone who creates problems for people is the worst form of tyranny. "We must grant people their rights," Pezeshkian added.
The president emphasized the critical role of university instructors in solving the country’s problems, ranging from economic to cultural issues.
He called on university instructors to engage in addressing these issues, from technical to cultural matters.
Pezeshkian mentioned that universities in other countries generate income, while in Iran, universities ask for money.
The president also called for the establishment of free-thinking platforms in universities, as the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei, has also emphasized. He said, "Students must be able to express their demands. We should respond to them based on logic. We can guide and inform students. If they are right, we must correct ourselves, not deprive them of their rights."
"If we can accept this, our country will progress."
