Iranian FM's letter to the President and Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court

Referring to the barbaric bombing of Gaza and the Zionist regime's ground against the enclave, which resulted in the martyrdom of more than 14,000 innocent people and the injury of more than 32,000, Iran's foreign minister called them an example of serious international crimes such as war crimes which must be considered as crime against humanity and genocide.

NOURNEWS- Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, emphasized the need to speed up the court's handling of the Palestinian case and the trial of the recent crimes in Gaza by sending letters to the president and prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.

Dr. Amir-Abdollahian considered the support of some countries of the usurping Zionist regime as the main reason and cause of bullying and the continued brutality and violence of this regime in committing international crimes with complete peace and impunity, and it was emphasized the legal obligation of the International Criminal Court in fulfilling its duties of prosecuting the perpetrators of these Crimes to end impunity.

Referring to the handling of the Palestinian case before the Court, Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs considered the action of the International Criminal Court in this regard as a test of its judicial independence and impartiality and added that now is the time for the Court to decide to resist against the pressure and interests of some Powers or by retreating, allow the atrocities committed by the occupying regime to go unpunished.

Dr. Amir-Abdollahian added in this letter that it is expected out of the International Criminal Court to not allow the perpetrators of serious international crimes to go unpunished and in compliance with its main duty which is emphasized in the Rome Statute, guarantee efficient prosecution of the perpetrators of serious international crimes by avoiding double standards and selective justice and political work.

Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues its diplomatic, international and legal activities in line with the implementation of the law to counter the hostile actions of the Zionist regime against peace and security approved by the Islamic Council (April 2020) and also in line with the support of the oppressed people of Palestine and the martyrs and wounded of Gaza.
