Europe’s big three’s comical show against the JCPOA

The behavior of the Western countries in the recent meeting of UN’s Security Council is a proof of the validity of the principle of Iranian distrust of the West and the requirement to fulfill the preconditions for negotiations, i.e., the cancellation of sanctions, the verification of this process and the commitment of the West not to repeat past blunders in keeping their agreed promises.

NOURNEWS- Following the regular meeting of the UN Security Council regarding the implementation of Resolution 2231, which was accompanied by the staging and directional and illegal behavior of the British, the three countries of Germany, Britain and France issued a statement while repeating their previous hostile positions against Iran's peaceful nuclear activities and made false claims about Iran's missile and drone capabilities.

In this statement, while repeating the false claim of sending Iranian drones to Russia for use in the Ukraine war, it is stated that in violation of Resolution 2231, Iran has continued to upgrade and develop ballistic missiles that are capable of carrying nuclear weapons, and by providing weapons to non-governmental groups, the security of West Asia was compromised.

These three countries have claimed; Because neither Iran nor Russia have received permission for such exchanges, both countries are considered as violators of UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

Earlier, Reuters news agency had announced; Britain, France and Germany intend to maintain missile sanctions against Iran, while according to the so-called sunset clauses contained in the JCPOA and Resolution 2231, in October of this year, missile and UAV sanctions on Iran will be lifted.

Contrary to the statements of the officials of the Western countries that are members of the JCPOA, their behavior shows that since the beginning of signing of this nuclear agreement, they have not taken any practical measures to adhere to the JCPOA and Resolution 2231 regarding the lifting of imposed sanctions, and in particular, they have always looked for excuses for not adhering to the sunset clauses.

This exact behavior was also followed by the West at the time of the lifting of arms embargoes on Iran, as China's representative at the UN warned in a recent meeting, while referring to this issue he said; "We are in favor of the Security Council playing a constructive role in the issue of Iran's nuclear program. Some of the restrictive measures of Resolution 2231 [against Iran] will expire in October of this year, and the ridiculous show around the snapback mechanism in 2020 should not be repeated."

The Europeans had already made their adherence to the JCPOA questionable despite their the 11-point commitments after Trump's withdrawal from the JCPOA in a deceptive behavior by not granting exemptions to Iran's banking sanctions, a behavior that led to the approval of the Strategic Action Law by the 11th Parliament.

To describe it more clearly; Due to the series of destructive actions carried out by the European countries and the US since the beginning of the JCPOA signing in 2015 and after that, the conditions for the acceptable implementation of this agreement were practically never provided, and after the unilateral withdrawal of the US from the JCPOA and the continuation of non-compliance of the Europeans in regards to JCPOA, this process intensified.

Europeans’ non-commitment was so obvious that they did not even adhere to their simplest commitment, i.e., the joint financial mechanism between Iran and Europe (SPV and INSTEX), and finally they announced its dissolution a while ago in the silence of the news coverage, even though no financial activity had taken place.

In any case; Referring to the sunset clauses of the JCPOA, Iran can start the process of buying and selling heavier weapons that have been authorized in the JCPOA in the coming months.

It is precisely to deal with this issue that the Europeans, in a clear violation of the terms of the JCPOA, have announced their opposition to the activation of the sunset clauses a few months earlier so that other countries avoid the exchange of arms with Iran due to the fear of sanctions that they may incur.

The repetition of the big, fake lie "the role of Iranian drones in the war in Ukraine" can also be examined in the same framework. During a year when they have repeated this claim many times, no document has been presented in this regard, and even the Hollywoodish photo of Zelenskyy with a replica of the Iranian drone did not last more than a few hours and it was reaveled to everyone that this replica was fabricated.

According to this; The Western countries’ drone claims against Iran should be seen as their excuse for not implementing another sunset clause, that is, the cancellation of missile and drone sanctions, an extra-JCPOA measure whose least impact could be the continuation of compensatory measures by the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of peaceful nuclear activities.

The tyrannical and unilateral behavior of western countries and illegal use of sanctions to exert political will, while ignoring the norms accepted in the international system, will lead to distrust of the international community in the legal mechanisms foreseen in international relations and its implementing institutions.

The consequence of these hypocritical behaviors has been such that many countries have also taken a stand against it, as Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said about the anti-Iranian statement of three European countries; The provisions of Security Council Resolution 2231 regarding the JCPOA must be fully implemented.
