!Systematic support of America's crimes in Guantanamo

Sending the UN special inspector to Guantánamo for the first time in 20 years clearly shows how the UN has been neglecting its minimal duties in this sensitive case for two decades!

NOURNEWS- Undoubtedly, "Guantanamo" is not just a name of a terrible prison, but it is also a full-scale symbol of the systematic violation of human rights by the occupying and terroristic government of the United States of America which has been the manifestation of Washington's human rights violations and rebellion since the time of Bush Jr. Until today.

An interesting point to note is that; Although this prison is registered in the name of Republicans, it has continued to operate even during the presence of two Democratic presidents (Obama and Biden) in the White House to prove to everyone that occupation and torture has become a bipartisan approach in the field of American foreign security.

Mrs. "Fionnuala Ní Aoláin", a lawyer with Irish origin and the independent inspector of the UN, who on 27th of June read her 23-page report to the United Nations Human Rights Council about her observations of Guantanamo at a press conference, said: 19 of the 30 prisoners in Guantanamo who Some of them have been in this prison for 20 years, have not faced even a single charge!

While expressing deep concern, she considered the reason for their continued detention to be "the unwillingness of the US authorities to face the consequences of torture and other ill-treatment of detainees".

The first independent UN inspector to visit the US detention center at Guantanamo Bay has announced that the 30 men held there continue to face cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment under international law.

According to her, many of the detainees she has met show evidence of "deep psychological trauma and distress, including anxiety, helplessness, hopelessness, stress, depression, and dependency."

Fionnuala Ní Aoláin also believes that many Guantanamo prisoners who are deprived of family and community support, some imprisoned without trial and some without being charged, have been imprisoned there for 21 years. These people go on hunger strike and suffer from forced feeding, self-harm, suicidal temptations and premature aging.

Regardless of the nature of the people who are in Guantanamo prison, this report shows two pure facts:

First of all; Contrary to the false insinuations of the American and Western authorities, the Guantanamo prison has not been closed and torture continues there in the silence of human rights organizations.

Secondly; Sending the UN special inspector to Guantánamo for the first time in 20 years clearly shows how the UN has been neglecting its minimal duties in this sensitive case for two decades!

It is awful that the United Nations considers it an honor to send a special inspector to Guantanamo after years of obvious crimes in this prison.

This is the same structural and operational conflict in carrying out the minimum responsibilities of the UN, which America and its allies have turned into a forum for domination and systematic use of force in the international system.

More bitterly, the United Nations inspector has expressed her satisfaction that progress has been made in dealing with the Guantanamo prisoners, regardless of the illegal nature of this prison building!
