NOURNEWS- The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an economic, political, and security alliance comprising China, Iran, India, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Pakistan. Iran was officially welcomed into the organization during the bloc's 23rd virtual summit held on Tuesday, which was chaired by India, becoming the ninth member. Iran first applied for membership in the alliance 15 years ago, but it took until 2021 for the request to be approved.
Even after officially joining the SCO and renewal of bilateral relations of Riyadh and Tehran after seven years of hiatus, the 13th government’s strategy to expand Iran’s relations with foreign countries in an attempt to lessen the influence of US dollar in domestic market is progressing faster than ever.
In line with the 13th government of the Islamic Republic of Iran Foreign policies and political goals, becoming a member of BRICS is the next step in Iran’s foreign policies.
The BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) was created in conditions where the universal power of the West had already entered a period of slow decline, but few had any doubts that the US and Europe would be able to determine the main characteristics of the world economy and international politics for a long time.
The main systemic characteristic of BRICS is that it is a community of revisionists, i.e., powers that did not set as their goal the destruction of the world order, but sought to achieve the inclusion of their interests in this order. All its participants were able to extricate themselves from their previous plight thanks to the opportunities that the unjust international order led by the West gave them. All of them grew at the expense of resources, although they were dramatically curtailed in the realization of their basic interests and values. Finally, none of the BRICS countries has plans to forcibly change the existing order of things, as revolutionary France, Germany and Japan have tried to do at one point or another over the past 250 years or the strategies of the US to exploit and control the West Asia in past 50 years or the Zionist regimes occupying the Palestine and starting wars against the Arab world.
The main difference is that, Unlike the US and Europe, the BRICS community is not based on the idea of exploiting other countries and regions. The political systems of its members do not come from a single source, as is certainly the case of Europe and the US. Moreover, the different civilizational foundations of the BRICS countries directly prevent them from creating an association whose internal discipline would be comparable to the West.
Earlier on June 3, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian foreign minister of Iran said that the members of the BRICS group of emerging economies have welcomed the Islamic Republic's potential accession to the powerful bloc. He said: “Given Iran’s geopolitical situation and potential, the main members of BRICS welcomed our country’s membership in this group,”
In the latest developments, “Based on the doctrine of neighborhood and convergence, active membership in regional and international organizations is an important part of President Raeisi's foreign policy. Full membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has been successfully finalized. The next step is to become a member of BRICS," said Mohammad Jamshidi the deputy presidential chief of staff for political affairs, on Twitter after Iran was declared a full member of the SCO.
An important point to mention is that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has received a formal invitation from South African President Matamela Ramaphosa to attend the BRICS+ summit that will be held in Johannesburg in August.
South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor broke the story in a telephone conversation with her Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Monday evening.
In the phone call, our country’s FM also said Tehran is willing to hold a joint commission meeting with South Africa and is ready for a full extension of bilateral ties. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian further expressed happiness with setting the date for the joint economic commission meeting between the two countries.
He also stressed the readiness of Iran to establish full-fledged ties with South Africa and cited his positive discussions with Pandor on the heels of the BRICS+ summit in Cape Town.
The main goal behind the creation of BRICS and Iran’s goal of joining this economical group is to upend and resist against the current and corrupted US-led world order.
The western countries have always used their power and influence to wage wars and create chaos in the world then act like nothing has happened. The world order is changing, the power and influence of the West is decreasing and their created world order is collapsing. The cooperation between countries like China, Russia and Iran in different fields and the unification of West Asia against the Western country's interference in the region is helping to further accelerate the collapse of current world order.
