NOURNEWS - The hypersonic missile, named ‘Fattah’, was unveiled by the IRGC in Tehran at a ceremony attended by Ayatollah sayyid Ebrahim Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Tuesday (June 6th), the projectile, whose name has been chosen by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah sayyid Ali Khamenei, has a range of 1,400 kilometers.
The missile’s warhead has a spherical engine running on solid fuel with a movable nozzle that allows the missile to move in all directions.
Last week, IRGC Aerospace Force Commander Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh said the homegrown hypersonic ballistic missile has undergone all tests successfuly. The new missile can penetrate all air defense missile systems and detonate the enemy’s anti-missile systems, he added. He further said: “The Fattah cannot be destroyed by any other missile due to how it moves in different directions and at different altitudes,”
Commander Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh announced news of the development of the hypersonic missile last November at an event marking the anniversary of the death of Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam, known as the father of Iranian missile technology. In November, the commander of IRGC Aerospace Force said the Fattah represents a “generational leap” for Iranian missile technology as it can maneuver within and outside the earth’s atmosphere and penetrate any missile defense system.
Addressing the unveiling ceremony on Tuesday, Brig. Gen. Hajizadeh said Iran has become one of the five countries in the world that possess the technology to develop hypersonic missiles. The US, Russia, China and North Korea have successfully tested hypersonic missiles, although exact details about such weapons are still somewhat scant.
He said: “Our activities in this field do not end with the manufacturing of this missile. We will continue this path so that no enemy even imagines attacking Iran,”.
A few days before, Islamic Republic of Iran showcased another hypersonic ballistic missile capable of reaching a range of 2,000 kilometers and carrying warheads weighing 1,500 kilograms with impressive strategic and tactical capabilities. Military officials said that the "Kheibar" hypersonic ballistic missile developed by the Defense Ministry can hit targets with a margin of error below 30 meters, adding that the advanced missile enjoys high technology to penetrate enemy air defense systems
An important point to make is; Hypersonic missiles move at five times the speed of sound or even greater and are maneuverable, these capabilities make them difficult for defense systems and radars to target.
Western countries such as the US and the Zionist regime have repeatedly stated their negative opinion towards Iran’s missile program, they made baseless accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran and have said repeatedly that the country’s ballistic missiles could potentially be used to carry nuclear warheads. But The Islamic Republic’s military doctrine holds that the country’s armed capability solely serves defensive purposes.
Military commanders say Iran stands among the world's top states manufacturing drones and precision-striking missiles, and they added that different types of domestically-built military equipment built by Iran are favored by world powers.
Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed that the country will not hesitate to boost its military capabilities, including its missile and drone power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will never be subject to negotiation.
