The talks are taking place at the level of deputy foreign ministers, political directors, and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs.
The deputy foreign ministers of Iran and the three major European powers and the European Union foreign policy deputy chairwoman have held their previously-announced meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, on Tuesday.
Media have reported that the previously announced talks between Tehran and European Troika, the United Kingdom, Germany and France started on Tuesday afternoon in Geneva on Tuesday.
The talks were held at the level of deputy foreign ministers.
Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi and Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi headed the Iranian delegation at the talks.
Later, the Lebanese Al Mayadeen correspondent reported that the talks were concluded without issuing any statement.
The main focus of the talks was Europe's threat to activate the trigger mechanism, as well as some issues related to the extension of UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which endorsed the 2015 nuclear deal known as the Join Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
After the conclusion of the second round of the talks in Geneva on Tuesday afternoon, Gharibabadi wrote in a post on X in both Farsi and English languages that "Dr. Takht-Ravanchi and I held another meeting with the political directors of the three European countries in Geneva."
"Both sides outlined their respective views on resolution 2231," the Iranian negotiator said, adding that "Iran remains committed to diplomacy and a mutually beneficial diplomatic solution."
"High time for the E3 and UNSC to make the right choice, and give diplomacy time and space.," he continued.
The first round of talks between the deputy foreign ministers was held in Istanbul on July 25.
