According to the Armenian news agency Armenpress, Pezeshkian and Pashinyan held a telephone conversation on Monday.
During this call, Pashinyan highlighted the results of the recent negotiations in the US capital and emphasized the opportunities that the newfound peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan presents for the region.
He added that regional pathways will operate within the framework of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the jurisdiction of countries, emphasizing the importance of reciprocity.
The Armenian Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to the Iranian side for its impartial evaluation of the agreements made in Washington and highlighted the significance of Pezeshkian’s upcoming visit to Armenia.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Ministry welcomed a peace deal between Azerbaijan and Armenia, saying that peace and stability in the Caucasus benefits all countries in this region. The ministry, at the same time, has expressed concern over the adverse effects of foreign intervention at the joint borders.
The ministry also announced Iran’s readiness to continue constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation with both Azerbaijan and Armenia to preserve regional peace, stability, and economic development through bilateral and regional mechanisms, such as the 3+3 format.
