Referring to the indirect nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington, he added: Especially regarding these talks, we would like to talk to our Chinese friends about it and keep them informed of the process of consultations.
Araghchi emphasized in the interview that “China has always played a positive and very constructive role on the Iranian nuclear issue, and we are confident that it will continue to do so in the future. Therefore, we are consulting on how China can help the talks with the US.”
In response to the question of how he sees the prospects of indirect talks with the US next Saturday, the head of Iran's diplomatic service said: These talks are on the right track, but it is still too early to judge. We are cautiously optimistic.
He added: If the American side continues its constructive approach and avoids unrealistic and impossible demands, I am confident that we will eventually be able to reach a good agreement.
Abbas Araghchi also responded to the question of what he thought would be his greatest achievement from his trip to China, saying: As I said, China is our friend and our main goal of this trip is to talk to our friends to see how they can cooperate more in this direction and help achieve a good result from the talks with the Americans.
The nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington began two weeks ago, and the negotiating teams have already held two indirect consultations with each other under the mediation of Oman.
These talks are scheduled to continue next Saturday between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and US President Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.
