According to the ministry, Kyiv launched a deliberate drone attack on an energy facility in the village of Kavkazskaya, located in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region. The overnight attack involved three drones and caused significant damage, including a massive blaze and the destruction of a fuel tanker. The facility is part of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s system, transferring oil from rail tankers into pipelines.
The strike came just hours after Putin and Trump agreed to a 30-day suspension of attacks on energy infrastructure. The U.S.-led initiative was welcomed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The White House said the agreement also included plans for “technical negotiations” on a maritime ceasefire as a step toward permanent peace.
The Russian Defense Ministry said Russian forces were complying with Putin’s order to halt cross-border strikes but accused Ukraine of failing to issue similar commands to its forces.
Russian air defense forces had to neutralize seven drones that were already airborne and heading toward Russian energy facilities, the ministry said.
Ukraine has not yet commented on the attack that Russia called “yet another provocation” aimed at undermining the U.S. president’s peace proposals.
