NOURNEWS- Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Tehran announced the issuance of an indictment for the accused of armed attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran and the court has asked for most severe punishment for him.
While pointing out that the process of dealing with this person's accusation was followed up by the judicial system with sufficient speed and accuracy; “Ali Salehi” stated: This assault, which took place on 27 January 2023, with personal motivation and the use of firearms, caused the death of one of the embassy staff, the injury of three of embassy workers, and the destruction of part of the embassy's property.
The prosecutor of Tehran reminded: With the completion of the judicial investigation in the Criminal Prosecutor's Office of Tehran, the defendant of this case is accused of being responsible for the deliberate murder of an Azerbaijani national using a firearm inside the embassy, buying, carrying and keeping illegal weapons and ammunition, including a Kalashnikov and one handgun and disturbance of public order have been severely punished and regarding other charges including destruction and intentional injury to three embassy personnel who are citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the case is open until the documents are completed by plaintiffs.
In this regard, a few points are interesting:
First; The parents of the victim have filed a lawsuit in the domestic courts and this issue, with the diligent pursuit of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the judiciary, has led to the issuance of an indictment as soon as possible, which shows Iran's commitment to establishing justice, protecting the rights of the victims and safeguarding the diplomatic rights of citizens of other countries.
Second; In spite of the extensive creation of atmosphere around this case by biased elements and opposition media with the aim of distorting the relations between the two countries of Iran and Azerbaijan and leaving the case out of the judicial process, this action showed that Iran is not only sensitive to diplomatic places and maintaining their security, but rather, Iran is not willing to violate any right in this regard under any circumstances.
Third; This case was investigated with the close cooperation of the judicial institutions of the two countries, including the visit of the Deputy Attorney General to Baku in August, and it has reached the stage of issuing an indictment, which shows Iran's good faith and belief in the principle of mutual cooperation to solve related issues.
In this regard, Mohammad Kazem Movahedi Azad, the Attorney General of Iran, left for Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in order to participate in the fourth meeting of the Attorney Generals of the ECO member countries.
Fourth; The request for severe punishment for the aggressor in the aforementioned indictment, in addition to indicating the sensitivity of the judicial system towards the protection of the relations governing the relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with other countries and the protection of the legal rights of foreign nationals working in diplomatic responsibilities, shows that the Iranian judiciary Islam has considered only the realization of justice without any considerations.
With these explanations; The efforts of the Iran’s government and judicial system, from the beginning of the investigation of the case of the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy to the issuance of the indictment, has left no doubt about the honest and fair policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in its relations with its neighbors, and it is a null line against the conspiracies of those whose livelihood and survival depends on sole search of division and creating crisis.
